DOT Requirements
The Department of Transportation (DOT) has significantly changed the requirements of the DOT/CDL Physical Exam. As of May 21, 2014, drivers are required to seek Certified Medical Examiners (CME) listed in the National Registry to receive a valid DOT Medical Exam certificate card. Motor Carriers must verify that a CME conducted the exam in the National Registry. This regulation shift may result in a shortage of physicians offering DOT Medical Exams.
